For the sake of efficiency, we stripped language of its soul. Necessary, but at what cost?

No matter where you stand, AI optimist or skeptic.

We can all agree on this: AI is just getting started, and it’s about to get a whole lot more sophisticated.

For years, we’ve broken language into pieces: segments, syntax, BLEU scores.

You name it.

It helped cut costs and scale localization, but something got lost along the way.

Language became less human, less natural, less real. It turned into a transaction. An unavoidable reduction in the name of economic expansion.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to share our thoughts at SlatorCon Remote, where we discussed how to make language language again, and yes, there is a way.
