Read the full release on our website .) The editor The editor is where you spend most of your day, so it got the most care. You can see where each suggestion comes from. Translation memory, machine translation, and the glossary each have their own soft color. The color tells you the source, not the quality. Deciding if a suggestion is good is still your call. Apply and Confirm are separate. Apply puts the text in the segment. Confirm is your decision about it. Smells, Sous-Chef, and your glossary and memory matches sit right under the segment, where you need them. Here is the editor before and after the redesign. Your projects The project list is calmer too. The project name comes first. Status is a word, like Pending or Approved, instead of a bright yellow block. The progress bar turns green only when the work is done. And the project list before and after. Why we changed it The old design served us for four years. But every year we added more to it. Smells, Sous-Chef, alternative translations, continuous projects, and much more. Each new feature made the screen a little busier. We wanted your translation to be the first thing you see. So we studied tools many of you already use, like Notion, Claude, and Linear. They all keep your work in the middle and move everything else out of the way. Nothing is gone Your projects, translation memories, glossaries, and settings are all where you left them. Only the look changed. Tell us what you think This is where we need you. Not because everyone suddenly became a software engineer, but because building has never been more accessible. A few years ago, creating software, automations, or AI experiences required specialized teams and large budgets. Today, a project manager can create an AI workflow. A localization team can build automations that would have required engineering support not long ago. The question is no longer who has access to AI. Everyone does. The question is who is willing to rethink how work gets done. That's why many of the updates we're shipping today focus on flexibility and giving teams more control over how they build. And with that, let's take a look at what's new. Workflows That Adapt to You More output. More translations. Problem solved, right? Not quite. A few years ago, the challenge was producing more. Today, generating output is easier than ever. The question is: how do you organize it all? We spent some time improving our workflow management, making it easier to create, organize, reorder, archive, and manage workflow steps across your operation. We also redesigned the Workflow Recommendations. More output isn't the hard part anymore. Keeping quality consistent as volume grows is. Translation Memory by Workflow Translation Memories are a bit like good recipes. Not everyone should be changing them. Now you can decide exactly which Translation Memories are available to each workflow , and whether that workflow should contribute new knowledge back, simply benefit from what's already there, or not use that TM at all. This gives teams more flexibility over how knowledge moves through the process, while keeping the right memories connected to the right work. Assignments Are Now Invitations Not every assignment should be a commitment from the start. Sometimes people need to see the details before deciding if they can take the work. That's why assignments can now be offered to linguists before being confirmed. Translators can review the task, understand the requirements, and decide whether to accept or decline the assignment before making the commitment. A small change, but one that creates clearer expectations for everyone involved. Delete Organizations, Org Units and Price Lists Most platforms are just collections of records. A bit like a spreadsheet with no formulas. Delete a row and nothing else really cares. wxrks works differently. Organizations, Org Units, Price Lists, workflows, permissions, vendors, and projects are all connected. Which means deleting something is rarely as simple as pressing a button. That's why we're happy to introduce that you can now delete Price Lists, Organizations, and Org Units without losing any of the intelligence behind the scene. A small feature on the surface, but one that makes it much easier to keep your wxrks environment clean, organized, and evolving alongside your operation. What's New A glimpse of the Future at LocWorld Dublin Every time Gabriel has the opportunity to open, he tends to move away from features, trends, and buzzwords and spend more time thinking about the longer-term shifts affecting our industry. One of the ideas Gabriel shared was that the future belongs to the curious. In many ways, curiosity matters more today than it did a few years ago. In the past, you could build a successful career simply by following the Localization Playbook . The process was known. The path was clear. Today, the canvas is blank. You can automate. You can build. You can redesign workflows. You can create entirely new ways of working. But what should you build? What should you automate? Which process should be reimagined? Those questions don't have playbooks yet. In a market full of uncertainty, and in an age of builders, those who remain curious and brave enough to experiment will continue to stand out. Not because they have all the answers, but because they are willing to build, test, learn, and rebuild until they find them. 🏆 Third Place at PIC. A Different Vision for AI We were honored to receive 3rd place at PIC alongside our partners at Automation Anywhere. But more important than the recognition was the message behind the project. While much of the AI conversation focuses on replacing human work, this initiative explored a different path. How AI can help people re-enter the workforce and develop new opportunities. Together, we created a workflow that helped single mothers in Japan shift from translation production to technical validation . AI handled the drafting, while human experts focused on reviewing meaning, quality, and intent using wxrks technologies such as Context Sensitivity and Smells. The result wasn't just greater productivity. It was new skills, new career opportunities, and a reminder that technology is at its best when it expands human potential. Third place was an honor. Showing that AI can empower people instead of replacing them was even better. How Elitza Became a Builder Inside Coca-Cola, Grew Usage by 671%, and Made Localization Relevant Again When AI disrupted the localization playbook, Elitza faced a choice: stay the course or explore a new path. As AI spread throughout the organization, some executives began asking a difficult question: if everyone has access to Copilot, do we still need localization? Instead of defending the old model, Elitza chose to build a new one. What’s still hard is giving clients and teammates a simple way to ask for human review. That gap is exactly what we brought to our Translation Portal this month. After you upload a document, the Portal shows a confidence score, a quick way to understand how good the translation is. If the first translation is good enough, you’re done. If it’s not, there’s a clear option to request a professional review. Behind that simple request in the Portal, a full project is created inside Bureau Works OST ( Operating System for Translation , long story short, before TMS, today OST). This job can be assigned, tracked, and delivered by the people you most trust, using the same workflows teams already realy on. The kind of content teams rely on every day. We’re introducing a ServiceNow connector that brings a simple way to translate that content using Bureau Works. With the connector, ServiceNow content can be sent for translation and review seamlessly. The work flows through Bureau Works, applies your memories and glossaries, and comes back ready to be used by global teams. If you’re using ServiceNow and want to explore this, we’re happy to walk through what content can be translated and how it fits into your workflows. A new AI spell check, built for meaning What’s the difference between a traditional spell checker and an AI powered one that understands meaning? It’s huge. Classic spell checkers compare letters. They look for typos, missing characters, and basic grammatical mistakes. Useful, but limited. They don’t know what you’re trying to say. Our AI Spell Check works at the level of meaning. It understands context, intent, and how words relate to each other. It can catch errors that aren’t technically wrong, but are wrong for the sentence, the tone, or the message you’re trying to convey. It’s the difference between checking if a word exists and checking if it belongs.That matters even more in translation, where a sentence can be perfectly spelled and still completely miss the point. Transcreation, with multiple options in the editor AI has started the age of endless options. Didn’t like this version? Okay, generate five more. Ten more. Maybe take this part of that sentence and mix it with the second half of another. And when it comes to transcreation, AI, and variations, there’s rarely a single “right” translation. The real challenge is figuring out how to use all that abundance without turning it into chaos. Fewer clicks. Less copy and paste. An interface that actually makes sense. That’s why we built a set of transcreation features around how creative work really happens. Linguists can create alternative versions directly in the translation editor, explain why each option exists, and use back translation to make sure meaning stays intact. It’s built for content where tone, intent, and nuance matter just as much as accuracy. This update joins Free-Flow and other features focused on creative teams who want to use the full range of AI possibilities, without juggling tabs, copying text around, or feeling like everything is slowly falling apart. GitLab connector for automated translation workflows The GitLab connector lets you sync translation files directly between your GitLab repository and Bureau Works. Using a simple YAML configuration file, you can define which files should be translated, which languages to include, and where translated files should be delivered. Source files are pulled from your repository, sent through your translation workflows in Bureau Works, and returned as translated files via a merge request in GitLab. Everything stays versioned, traceable, and aligned with your existing branching and review process. This connector is designed for teams who want translation to fit naturally into their development workflow, without manual exports, copy and paste. "Divide et impera ” said Julius Caesar. We took that saying to heart and you can now split work units in Bureau Works. That alone could have been this month's update. But we didn’t stop there. We also gave AI a moment of respite. Someone recently said AI is like an overeager intern who never stops yapping . Always correcting, always chiming in, always nodding along. So now you can control just how much or how little it gets to say. And while we’re at it, we just crossed 100,000 subscribers on YouTube . We still can't believe it. One hundred thousand people who care about the future of translation as much as we do. That means the world to us. Thank you for being part of this journey. Let’s get into what else is new. Split Work Units A massive project lands with a few gargantuan files, which creates work units with thousands of segments. Suddenly, the entire timeline hinges on dividing up that file into bits and pieces so that translators can finish their part. That used to have to take place outside Bureau Works. It was manual, error-prone and complex. That dark epoch in Bureau Works is now over. With our new work unit splitting feature, you can divide a file into as many parts as needed with a single click. The original task stays intact, but new subtasks are created so multiple linguists can work in parallel. Simple, effective and effortless. Target-Based Cost Calculation Quoting a translation project can be tricky. You start with source-based pricing, but the final output ends up much longer. Now you can calculate costs based on the actual deliverables using the target logfile. Run it automatically when quoting or manually later on. Regardless, you’re in full control. Noticed how translation pricing is drifting away from pure source word count? Maybe it’s not the future, maybe it’s already the present. Pricing by impact isn’t a dream. It’s where we’re headed. This is just a tiny step in that direction. Added to the already available "Pay by Hours" feature, Bureau Works is laying out the groundwork for flexible, dynamic and intelligent cost calculation that is truly compatible with this AI era. Regex Search in Editor, Glossary, and TM Sometimes you’re not searching for a word, but a pattern. That’s where regular expressions come in. For instance, catch cases like 10 kg or 5cm that may need spacing adjusted per locale with a broad search instead of having to look for every occurrence of kg or cm you can create a simple command that matches a number followed by optional space and unit. Now available in the Editor, Glossary, and Translation Memories, Regex search turns into a real linguistic sleuth. Take Control of AI Like we said, AI can sometimes feel like an eager intern, always offering suggestions, even when you didn’t ask. Helpful at times, but often just extra noise. That’s why we’ve added more control to the Editor. You can now modulate exactly what shows up in the Augmented Actions menu. And if you turn everything off, the menu disappears entirely. You can crank the volume all the way down, leave it somewhere in the middle for easy listening or mute it entirely. You're the boss. Custom Project Reports It's hard to believe it but it's 2025 and electronic paper trails are still huge. That's why we went the extra mile and enabled your custom logo and notes to flow seamlessly onto your electronic paper trails exported from Bureau Works. It’s not just a document. It’s your document , clean and on-brand. You can also add extra charges like taxes or service fees directly to your project costs. They’ll show up in both payables and receivables, so nothing gets missed and your numbers stay on track. Improved Notification Management Admins can now manage notifications for users. There’s also a new alert when a project manager gets assigned to a project. Plus, users can now change their email through a dedicated tab. Learning terms just got more granular. What if you had an assistant that suggested the perfect terms to add to your glossary? That’s what Learning Terms is all about, an AI-powered assistant that identifies and recommends key terms worth adding. This feature isn’t new to our platform, but here’s what is: You can now define which Org Units can access and explore Learning Terms. That means more customization power for your account, whether you're organizing by company, client, department, or whatever structure you’ve applied to Org Units More Flexibility for Translation Memories. It’s no secret that translation memories are the heart of any translation platform. So why are exports still so limited on some tools? We’re tackling that. With our new customization option, you can filter your exports by date range, and get just the content that’s relevant to you. Machine Translation for Everyone. You heard that right, all Bureau Works subscribers have access to Microsoft Machine Translation, and it's already included in your plan at no extra cost. That’s not new. What is new is how it's presented: Now, our Machine Translation (Microsoft) appears clearly as one of your available machine translation options. When preparing content for translation, not all fields are meant to be translated, but they’re still important. For example, while localizing our website, I had fields like article IDs, URLs, publication dates, and statuses like “published.” These weren’t meant for translation, but I still needed them included and returned in an organized format to update our Webflow site. Back then, handling this meant lots of manual work 😡 and post-processing. Now, with Data Transformation Parameters, you can define exactly how those non-translatable fields should be handled 😍. Sharing is caring and our Google Drive connector just got better! Our Google Drive connector was already an easy and seamless when it came to the files you owned. But we missed one small detail: what about the files you shared? Realizing so many organizations rely on shared drives for content sharing, we changed our connector to take this into account. You can sync content in your shared drives directly into your Bureau Works projects. After that, just pick your favorite drink, something nice to eat and if you have full potential of automation turned on in Bureau Works, just sit back and watch the magic happen. Our platform now supports 456 languages We’ve recently added a new batch of languages to the platform, Among the additions, we’re especially proud to include two Indigenous languages: Wayuunaiki (guc) and Awajún (agr). Their presence reflects our ongoing commitment to language diversity and cultural inclusion. These new locales are already live on the platform. Currency Conversion Made Easy Now you can generate payables in the currency of your choice, just toggle the option, pick the target currency, and drop in the exchange rate. We’ll take care of the math :) And don’t worry, if your payment method doesn’t support a currency, we’ll gently steer you in the right direction. Not that I've ever played tennis on a moving train, but you get the picture. 😀 We’re enabling GPT-4.1 Mini , Multilingual Excel Files , Target-Based Log Files , a smarter Zendesk connector , and auto-fixing of Tags in Translation Memories . This month, we’ve delivered breathtaking improvements literally, we ran out of breath while developing them for you. JK, we are tireless, and Bureau Works is unstoppable! And without further ado ... here are our April updates. Multilingual Excel Files on Wheels! Sometimes, it's so convenient to have all of your translations neatly assembled into a single spreadsheet. And it's even more convenient if there's no copying and pasting required. Our extended support for Multilingual Excel Files does just that. One file in with the source in a single column and one file out, precisely populated with translations, each in their corresponding column. Less copying and pasting means more time for focused work on higher-value translation tasks. Evolving the Post-editing Science: Target Based Logfiles are on! We've expanded our post-editingn analytics capabilities. We already provide logfiles via pre-analysis, post-analysis, and edit coefficients, but now we've added measurement by target words. You can request Bureau Works to analyze files based on source or target content, giving you extra flexibility in how you assess completed work and measure project metrics. Now Powered by OpenAI 4.1-mini The best aspect about our AI strategy is that we do not rely on training and tuning models. Adding New Dimensions to Post-editing Metrics As AI becomes more and more prevalent we need to be able to highlight human effort . Part of this effort shows through the number of edits, but part of it is also reflected by the time spent in every segment. The more transparency, the more tools our users have to understand deeper insights into their own work and productivity as well as to their organization as a whole. Now users can see the time they spent on every segment. Synonyms Now available in our Glossary Ever feel like your glossary is a little too... literal? You can now add synonymous terms at the glossary level. Just add one or more extra terms for the same language pair, and boom, done. Because “translation” isn’t always one-to-one, and neither are the words we use to describe it. This is just the beginning of a long journey towards expanding the treatment of contextual nuances through our Context-Sensitive apparatus. Our Website Now Speaks 5 More Languages We’ve translated our site into Italian, Chinese, Japanese, Arabic, and Swedish. Why? Because search is evolving. That’s why we build Bureau Works to adapt, keeping you ahead no matter what comes next. Pay Vendors How You Both Want For many of our users, the per-word rate isn’t cutting it anymore. Translating isn’t any more a typing thing in Bureau Works and we had to deliver tools that reflect this. Now, vendors can log their actual hours worked on a project, and PMs can approve or request adjustments. You can continue to use words, but now you can also use hours to keep track of effort. But the beauty is that it’s all connected—projects, payments, financials—seamlessly. More Flexibility for Vendor Rates Part of our system design Northstar is making our software more flexible. And here we are allowing vendors to add a multitude of rates to cover any combination of language pairs and workflow types. More granularity so that you can set up things your way. At Bureau Works Mi Casa es Su Casa for real. And while we were at it, we cleaned things up: Billing and language settings are now combined into a single page. Less clutter, fewer clicks, more efficiency. More Ways to Import Your Glossaries If payments and rates are the backbone of vendor relationships, glossaries are the backbone of quality translations. Now, in addition to TBX, you can import glossaries in XLSX format—because who doesn’t love options? Our goal is to make Bureau Works more accessible to all users, not just translation experts who know what a TBX even stands for. A Glossary is a list of terms and a list of terms is a glossary. It should be that simple, and now it is. 🙂 Terminology Kanban, Now with Bulk Import If flexibility is our #1 priority, Kanban improvements are a close second. Terminology plays a huge role in AI-driven pre-translation, and now you can bulk import terms into your Kanban using XLSX. No more one-by-one manual entries. Now, our connector makes it easy to quickly identify emails and landing pages, helping you navigate and organize an endless sea with ease. Contentful: Untangling the Nest Nested Content can be a huge pain. Picture this, you select a few pages to translate. You translate them. But then you realize that these pages referred to dozens of other pages that remained untranslated. Not only is that a bummer, but to keep track of all of these nestings can be next to impossible. Our new Nested Content Management in our Contentful connector does that for you hassle-free. Turn it on, and rest knowing that all your related nested assets will also get picked up for translation without having to find needles in haystacks every single time. Think about the effort it takes to set up individual projects for each agency. For instance, creating 10 separate projects for 10 agencies quickly becomes a time-consuming process. That's where Project Routing comes in. Now, you only need to set up all the project settings once, and it will automatically route each project to the appropriate team . This streamlines your workflow, saving time and reducing repetitive tasks. 24 New Endpoints in Our API We’ve added 24 new endpoints to our public API, allowing you to expand your integrations and customizations even further. New capabilities for the Terminology Kanban Our terminology Kanban has been well received by clients, and our engineers are focused on making your experience even better. This month, we’ve expanded its capabilities to enable easy bulk modifications. Introducing hourly charging options Charging per word is one of the sacred standards in our industry, so let’s shake things up and offer more flexibility for translation businesses to get what they want. Previously, pricelists only charged per word—now both words and hours are available. Context Sensitivity in Logfiles Alright, brace yourselves for some beloved Loc Tech jargon! We’ve added a new column in our post-analysis logfile to show translations that use our Context Sensitivity feature. Now, instead of grouping everything under 100% TM matches , the logfile clearly shows where Context Sensitivity has been applied. I can’t decide whether to feel proud of my fluency in localization tech or start rethinking simpler ways to explain this! Okay, I’d feel guilty if I didn’t share the Explanation of Terms: Post-Analysis : This refers to the step after translation is completed, where data is analyzed to see how much content was reused, edited, or needed special handling. It’s a report that helps track translation quality and efficiency. Logfile : Think of a logfile as a detailed record of the translation process. It shows what’s been translated, or reused. Context Sensitivity : Bureau Works’ Context Sensitive Translate feature combines information from translation memories, machine translations, glossaries, and past translation decisions into a single stream. It adapts as the translator works, learning to deliver content that matches the style and tone of previous translations. 100% TM Matches : Translation Memory (TM) stores segments that have been translated before, so if a new segment exactly matches one of these, it’s called a 100% match. This means the content can be reused without changes, saving time. In our new setup, instead of grouping context-sensitive translations with these exact matches, we make them distinct for easier tracking. More Terminology Added the option to send terms or concepts directly from the glossary screen to Kanban. Dynamic Feed: Your Extra Pair of Eyes Dynamic Feed helps you focus on what truly deserves your attention—whether it’s a project nearing its deadline or an important comment.
